I was glad I went for the Hands On IVF Training, and that I was lucky enough to have that week free to be able to attend. As an aspiring gynaecologist, I wanted to know more about Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and how it is done. I know that in the future, I can be more confident in advising my patients about these kinds of options available if I have a comprehensive knowledge about in vitro fertilization and its procedures. Although the training was only for a week, it did cover all the topics related to IVF, and we were also given hands-on experience in handling equipments and other gadgets that were needed in this procedure.
The knowledge imparted to us by different experienced lecturers coming from the field of embryology, andrology, biology, and other fields relating to ART was overwhelming for me to say the least. It was a great experience to see how different people with different expertise come together to produce a patient’s offspring. It certainly gave me hope that one day I can help people who desperately want to have children and be able to grant their wish. For me this training is the start of that hope.

However, based on a research handled in Israel and participated in by 79 police officers who were divided into 2 groups, the nighttime eaters lost 27% more fat than those who underwent the traditional diet. For 6 months both groups were placed on an identical low calorie diet which was usually 1,300 to 1,500 calories daily. Equal amount of carbs were eaten and the only difference were half the officers ate the carbs at night with the other half in the daytime.
One of the amazing findings of the research was the level of the inflammatory hormones which were the cause of heart diseases and cancer was definitely lower in the nighttime eaters by 27.8 % in comparison with the daytime eaters with 5.8%. If you were to believe the findings, it means that the time of meals has a definite effect on weight loss and not the nutritional values of the food eaten. What was not taken into account was whether the police officers undertook exercises or the amount of physical activities they handled during the 6 month period.
Weight loss is not totally dependent upon reducing the carbs taken into the body but the consistency and regularity of exercise. On the other hand, the police officers did not actually give a report on what kinds of carbs were consumed. If the carbs were the healthy and nutritious carbs, then it follows that the body gains health without getting excessive fat. Is there really an effective diet?

As often the case, college students can hardly squeeze in a few minutes of their time to work out in the gyms. Not only is their daily life invested in reviewing for examinations and completing projects but they have to maintain an active lifestyle with friends. However a few minutes of exercise can improve not only health and physical well being but it increases the chances of earning better grades.
Based on the researchers made in the University of Texas where about 1,100 college students were interviewed, it was found out that those who were getting at least 30 minutes of exercises 3.52 times a week were able to attain A grades as opposed to those who handled only 2.81 times a week with C, D or F grades. Does this mean that if you exercise regularly, there are more chances of achieving an A in calculus? It would seem so since the exercise enhances the pre frontal cortex activity of the brain where the working memory is. On the other hand, exercise provides a good physique and it wouldn’t hurt to suffer 30 minutes work out in the gyms to gain better grades.
